Impact of Brexit
It seems that finally Boris Johnson and his government is going to get Brexit done. Like the explosive release of a champagne bottle, the cork will fly and the hope is that we’ll enter a great new era in the UK car industry.
There may well be an initial pouring of good times ahead. But the government can’t sit back and think that the job is done. The good start will need to be managed and built upon. It is an opportunity, but one that must not be missed.
Trying to read runes is not easy. But it is true to say that with any change there are losers and winners. Manufacturers though are still being free with deposit contributions, 0% finance, scrappage deals and other special offers, all great news for buyers.
Life will go on, and there could well be some great opportunities in the coming year. Any ‘champagne’ being poured of course, is probably best from a Kent vineyard instead of a French one though!

There’s the all-new Peugeot 208 following the company’s new philosophy of the power of choice. It features the choice of diesel, petrol or all-electric powertrains. And, Vauxhall’s fifth generation Corsa that aims to surprise in all the ways its predecessor was unremarkable. As a result, on paper at least, it’s the most competitive supermini the brand has ever produced.
SEAT has added a thoughtful value proposition to its Mii model. It is undoubtedly spacious, frugal and clever. It makes an awful lot of sense and now can be had in full-electric form too.
Ford’s New Kuga and Puma
Ford is offering us their sleek, spacious all-new Ford Kuga. With a distinctive design, comprehensive hybrid powertrain line-up and new driver assistance technology, it gives the most efficient, comfortable and rewarding Kuga experience ever. And they have the new Puma – an SUV-inspired compact crossover that fuses stunning exterior design, best-in-class uncompromised load space, and sophisticated mild-hybrid powertrain technology.

Mercedes-Benz’s exclusive, large luxury SUV, the GLE Coupe is a sportier, coupe-styled version of the GLE-Class five-door model. It gains an added dash of maturity in this second-generation form.
Another rethought SUV is Renault’s Captur. It boasts a totally refreshed exterior styling that’s combined with revolutionary interior design, and it has an E-TECH plug-in powertrain coming later in the year too. Additionally, is the all-new PEUGEOT 2008 SUV, available with a choice of 100% electric, petrol or diesel powertrains, along with some class-leading levels of technology.
